About me
About me
From as early as I can remember, I was drawing or colouring something. Spending my childhood in Sefton Park, Liverpool and watching the changing seasons there fascinated me. All the beautiful colours in nature and the different atmospheres depending on the weather and time of day. Right up until my early 30's I kept art as a luxury hobby- something to dip in and out of at my leisure.
Then I decided to go to college and do an art foundation course, and from the word go, I knew I was in the right environment. Five years later, I was in Manchester Metropolitan University completing an MA course. I would say that my college and university years were very exciting, interesting and busy. I travelled all over Europe and enjoyed lots of trips to London. I met many inspiring artists, tutors and lecturers as well as 'art world' people, and visited umpteen galleries and museums alike.
In the last 20 years I have worked as a private artist undertaking commissions and participating in both group and solo exhibitions. I have enjoyed my artistic journey through life, and would say that my greatest accolade was the late Queen Elizabeth II personally thanking me for my painting 'Our Gracious Queen'- a commemorative portrait to mark the 60th anniversary of her accession to the throne; and personally inviting me to Buckingham Palace for the handover of the image. This original painting of 'Our Gracious Queen' portrays a contemporary youthful queen boasting assurance and dignity- the hallmark of her reign. A fresh look upon her historic day. The original painting was given to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2012- the year of her Diamond Jubilee, and now I would like to give the general public the opportunity to own a replica of Her Majesty's original portrait to remember her by.
